![]() Still Life Glen Echo Park began in 1891 as a National Chautauqua Assembly, which taught the sciences, arts, languages, and literature. By the early 1900's it had become a premier amusement park which served the Washington area until 1968. In 1971, the National Park Service began managing the park, and collaborated with artists and arts organizations to create a rich arts program in the spirit of the original Chautauqua movement. Today, the park is managed by a non-profit organization, the Glen Echo Partnership for Arts and Culture. Eric teaches acrylic painting at the Yellow Barn Studio in Glen Echo, MD. The Yellow Barn Studio and Gallery is the painting residency at Glen Echo Park. The studio's goal is to provide a place where those interested in painting can have the opportunity to meet, collaborate, and display their work. The class is an introduction to painting with acrylics, but is suitable for all levels of experience. Advanced students can work on projects of their choice. Students become familiar with the unique properties of acrylic paints, and the rich and varied effects possible in an acrylic painting. Emphasis is placed on the basic principles of composition, color, and form. Subjects include still life, landscape from photos, and life model. Price is $275 for a ten-week session.
