Eric Westbrook is inspired and energized by the human face and figure. The paintings in his show Portraits Out of Time, at Studio Gallery, are concerned with the time-honored task of capturing the likeness of a particular individual in a landscape setting. They indulge his love of rich color, sensuous line, and natural forms. The work taps the stylistic vocabulary, and sometimes the literary and mythological motifs, of Pre- Raphaelite Brotherhood painters Dante Gabriel Rossetti, John Everett Millais, and J.W. Waterhouse. Proposing that the image of a specific individual can illustrate a universal theme is the goal of the artist. Using the imagination to make that connection is the task of the viewer. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() www.kossenasphotography.com |
